Grand Imperial Restaurant
Chap Goh Meh, the 15th day of Chinese New Year is around the corner. Chinese New Year almost coming to an end. For those of you who still short of angpow, you still have few days to catch up. For those of you who still have itchy hand, find your “kaki” and start to gamble. Hehe..
Not trying to praise myself but I don’t gamble. I know many other bloggers will shoot at me when I say it but I have better explanation on that. Honestly, I don’t gamble! In fact, I don’t know how to gamble but I just know how to win money. Hehe..
Ok. Maybe there are a lot of my readers are still underage so I will cut the crap about gambling and talk on more appropriate topic, UNO card game?.. Ops no way! I mean FOOD. Which place this time? It is Restoran Grand Imperial in One Utama.

The name is already indirectly hinting that this place is slightly pricy, high class, nicely decorated, good service and GOOD FOOD too. I’m not trying to apple polish this restaurant and they did not give me any discount either when I write about this. So it is only pure honesty.
This is the place where a lot of family decided to have their reunion dinner. Same goes to my family. Don’t complain that it is too late to write a reunion dinner post when Chap Goh Meh is just few days away. Better late than never right?

What’s good over here? Lou Sang again? Er.. oh yea. This is my 8th times of Lou Sang. We, including my nephew and niece are involved in tossing the Lou Sang every year. My nephew really tossed so high that some of it “fly” into my camera back. Ewww..
I know Lou Sang is also called Yee Sang but this Yee Sang does not have Yee (Fish). The smart chef is smart enough to realize that many don’t like raw fish but they like raw scallops instead. That is also why I find this yee sang is remarkably special.

That is seriously only the appetizer. It is similar to starter for 3 or 5 course meals in western world. My mom ordered a lot a lot a lot of food for 5 adults. She ordered:
- Giant Garoupa with Garlic
- Pan Fried Japanese Kurob
- Braised Golden Coin Sharkfin
- Whole Abalone (5Head)
- Claypot Rice with Chinese Wine
- Double Boild Hasma with Almond
- Nian Gao & Lotus Paste Pastry
- *few that I missed out..

What strike me are these 3 dishes, the preserved meat which include duck, pork, chinese sosej and sosej, whole Abalone (5Head), claypot rice with Chinese wine. Honeslty, I don’t quite like the taste of the preserved meat. Slightly too salty for me but I guess that is the original taste of preserved meat. Lol
The combination of clayport rice with 5 head abalone mushroom is just perfect. Personally, I feel surprise that abalone got 5 head (To me, it looks like no head at all?). The fragrant rice that cooked with wine looks like nothing special but it actually tastes really good. It is filling too. Hehe..
Finally the dessert, Nian Gao (Year Cake) & Lotus Paste Pastry. This is the first time that I try it and I love it straight away. The Nian Gao is added with shredded coconut right after they steam it. NICEE.. and everyone is served with sea coconut and longan.
Poor Mom has to pay RM 787 for all 5 adults and 2 kids. I am glad that mom really enjoyed the companion and the laughter that we shared among us.
