Kim Gary @ Midvalley

Do you have an idol? Tom KURUS? Justin BARBER? Angelina Jelly? Whoever that is, I have question for you.. why do you need to idolize someone when you yourself is the best? You don’t think so? At least Mr. TikkoSS idolize himself every much.

All because there is only one TikkoSS in this world! Lol. Maybe you should idolize him too since he is unique.. Scoff scoff. It is easier to proof it by just following his blog. Well, action speaks louder than words, right?

If you are big fan of TVB series, you might come across Kim Gary. Who is he? He is a spiderman? Nah, I don’t know who is he but do I look like I care? What I care is what he is capable of. FOOD for sure..

Kim Gary Restaurant is a famous fast food chain in Malaysia. Beside affordable food, it is also famous because it is opened by famous movie star. Hehe..

I rarely visit this restaurant but occasionally I will drop by here to get toast and my favorite Pork Chop Rice with Cheese. Some did ask me before, why I spend more to eat toast here when toast can be easily made. The answer is because “I am Lazy”!

Not only that, if I am here, I can have cheesy pork chop rice too. It will never go wrong when you have the right combination with chicken soup. Simple lunch set that served with a glass of yin yong and dessert.

Sometime I get really hungry that the served portion might appear to be slightly small for my big fat and sexy belly. If I am still hungry after the whole set + toast, I will order my second favorite dish, Pork with Fried Egg with Chinese Mushroom.

Did I tell you I love mushroom? If not, now I tell you. I love mushroom. Hehe.. That is why I order this one. I will never compromise when come to food. So all the dishes I ordered here do pass TikkoSS’s Quality Taste.. hehe

I mentioned earlier that dessert and yin yong are included in the set meal. What I didn’t mention is another favorite drink I love here, Mango Coconut Milky Lure. Some tastes are hard to define and it will only be perfect when you experience it yourself.

RM 50 is not consider as cheap and it is not consider as expensive either but that is what I spent on all the food that I usually order in Kim Gary. Have a try and if you are small eater, I bet it will be a lot less than RM 50

Rak Thai

How much are you willing to spend for hawker food? RM 1? RM 10? Or RM 100? Normally when come to food, money is secondary to me. I used to spend RM 100 or more in ONE day, just for varieties of roadside food along Kaoshan Road, Thailand.

I know many decided to get Thai girlfriends to save some money in Thai food, some decided to hire Thai maid to cook for them but as for me, I decided to hunt for nice Thai Restaurant. As much as I love Thai food, please don’t expect me to eat same thing over and over again right?

Rak Thai is not just a Thai Restaurant that serves delicious Thai delicacies but sell a lot of Thai daily products such as my favorite tom yam instant noodle, Thai chili sauce and chili paste. What impressed me is most is the waiters/waitresses here who speaks good Thai.

Duh, speak Thai? Like that also want to impress. I tell you, most of the waiters/waitresses in Malaysia Thai restaurants do not speak Thai at all beside Sawadeekap. If you don’t believe it, try to speak a few words and see their priceless facial expression.

If you follow my blog before, I spent about RM 124 in Chakri Palace in Malaysia ?? Guess how much I am planning to spend here? The set for 2-3 RM 53.90+ attracts me. Correction.. The set for 4 RM 89.90+ really attracts me but unfortunately I don’t have 4 stomachs like cow.

I only have one stomach and one “hump at the front” (don’t ask me what is “hump at the front”! So, reluctantly have to ordered the set for 2-3 :(

Start with my favorite, Tom Yam Gai as appetizer. This is good to stimulate your taste buds before they go to “spicy shock”. Follow by so called “Green Curry Chicken” (I might be color blind but it looks yellow to me :P ) and Stir-Fried Kangkung.

If you can take the “not so spicy” Tom Yam, I bet you will survive with all the other dishes. I got to know that a friend of mine will turn into tomato red if he takes spicy food. Cute isn’t it? To me, I don’t turn red but I will sweat like PIG but hey, all these food are marvelously great. So, I don’t mind turning into PIG.

The Crispy Fried Fish Lemongrass Dressing is very unique. This is totally different as compare to most of Fried Fish with Thai sauce (which means, fried the fish with readymade Thai sauce from bottle). I believe this is the authentic way of preparing the Thai Style Fried Fish.

More importantly, it taste really good and sometimes I will crave for this dish.

Not to worry about drinks, you will be served with Iced Lemongrass Drink. If you love the fragrant and taste of lemon grass, I bet you will like this drink very much.

Again, I have made a right decision not to order set for 4 as I hardly finish all the dishes here. The portion is really big and I guess my bottomless stomach is not bottomless afterall.

Aseana CafeBar

Some part of me is Malay. Do you believe it? Nope nope, I don’t wear songkok or I don’t have 4 wives. Since all of us are descendents of Adam and Eve, I am sure we are connected somehow. I don’t know why but for some reason, I turn out to be Chinese now.

Despite my body system is flowing with Chinese blood, my taste buds are kind of special. It can be customized and sometime, Malay food excites me. Wait wait.. I just realized I am a product of China but “Made in Malaysia” …dang!

I know I know I have been posting a lot about nice non-halal food, pork, alcohol bla bla bla. So I decided to hunt for HALAL food this time, not only halal food but nice Malay food.

Aseana is a Kafe and Bar located inside KLCC. It is normally quite quiet on the normal time and get really crowded during the peak hours. If you don’t want to feel awkward, go with your Malay girlfriend. Ops.. I mean your Malay friends.

There is nothing much to talk about the ambience and the photo above did not carry any weigh too. It is just a way for me to show off my photography skills. *faint!

If you are not a spicy food eater, you should start with something light, something less spicy first. By any means, if you have faith in your stomach, go ahead with the main course.

For the sake of adding varieties to my food photos, I ordered Keropok Lekor, deep fried spring roll, and pisang goreng ala Bali as my starter. Have a think about it, you can get all these by the roadside and guess how much all these cost?

I am a super big fan of platter. In Peranakan Place @ One Utama, I love Peranakan Platter. Over here, I love this mix platter. At this stage, please don’t ask me silly question such as why platter? Duh.. you pay for single price and you get fish, rendang, chicken, ulam, keropok and kari. I am “small” eater remember?

If you are not smart enough, normally evil and angel you will be fighting in your mind.. fish or meat? Meat or chicken? Don’t let that happen, just order all in one plate! Your wallet might be bleeding but deep down, I can tell you that your belly loves it.

Some might be“not so” smart and decided to order curry fish rice, chicken rice, chicken rendang rice or kuey teow soup. Honestly, I am alright with that as long as you like it. It is personal preference and wallet ability right?

Overall, I have tried every single dish above and I love them so much. Did I finish all those food? Please try not to be funny here. How can I possibly finish all those food in one go. Of course I went there multiple times ler.

If you noticed, sometime I am “not so” smart and sometime I am smarter. Well, that is how the cookies crumble. You are going to drive me really mad if you ask me if this place is good or expensive.. sigh.. i) if not nice, do you think I will blog about it? ii) if not nice, will I repeatedly go to the same place iii) quite reasonable price else you really think I really “cop” money meh?

Restoran Peng Heong Hakka Paikut

Few days ago, someone used my website to spam and ended up McAfee labeled my website as suspicious with SPAM URL. Seriously, whoever is that, please grow up! Learn to appreciate someone’s piece of work rather than abusing it.

I cannot figure out why McAfee can even believe that my website is a SPAM. The only reason that I can think of is maybe I do “SPAM” a lot about good food. Ops, I am doing it again now!

Human evolution theory by Charles Darwin believe that “men from monkeys” but it says nothing about women. So, human evolution theory by TikkoSS envisage that “women from swans”. Why? i) angel alike ii) graceful iii) slow and steady iv) classy v) tiny brains :P

That is for men and women. What about food evolution? I have no clue at all but Peng Heong shows an evolution from hawker stall to big restaurant. Yes, from very small zinc roof hawker stall by the roadside to big concrete cozy restaurant.

My father used to drive me all the way to Klang for lunch here when I was a teenager. Back then, this shop is just another hawker stall but now, they even earn a title of No.1 Paikut. Not only that, they serves a variety of delicious Hakka dishes.

Before you start calculating on my age, I am not that OLD! Teenager life for TikkoSS was just few years back. I am still very young by the way.

Since I mentioned Paikut earlier, this is a must try dish. I also ordered black vinegar pork leg and pepper pork belly soup. OK, too bad for muslim friends that this is a non-halal restaurant but good news for Pork’s Lovers.

This paikut is boneless and soft. Just nice for lazy people like me that hates bones. The gravy is extraordinary nice. The black vinegar pork leg is one of the few that qualify to enter my mouth. I don’t like if it is too sourish. The pepper pork belly soup is so so only considering that I like my mom home made soup.

Beside all the pork dishes, they also serve common green vegetables, eggs and pretty good assam fish too. It is very difficult to find a restaurant which their cooking style matches your taste bud. I love this place as almost every single dish is exactly how I like it.

If I am in desperate mode but broke, I think plain rice with egg already sufficient for me. Hmm.. the strawberry and honey are so nice… Ops, slightly off topic as I am enjoying my favorite strawberries now while blogging about this. hehe

Did I finish all the dishes? Of course! Am I alone? Of course not! I am with my family at that time. You really think I am that “big” eater meh? All these dishes only cost about less than RM 150.

If you get lost in Klang next time (like I used to experience before when I trusted my dumb dumb aka GPS), you can drop by at this place and try it before you find your path back :P

Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie

Girls are very unique creatures. They might appear soft and gentle but deep inside, they have hearts of diamond. Nothing can melt their heart unless they open up for you.

You can try with 100 different languages to tell them how much she meant to you or a simple “I love you”, the girl will probably respond. Ohh ok and that’s it. Using romance language such as Italian language might put you slightly on the upper hand.

What if you know nothing about 100 languages or any romance language? Er..maybe you can start goggling available monastery just incase you need it.

Nah.. I am just kidding.. hehe.. Alternatively, read TikkoSS’s blog and you will know what to do. You can bring your crush to this Italian restaurant, Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie. This place is stunningly decorated. Not sure if it considers as romantic place but girls just love it.

Be slightly sensitive. Some girls are on diet so salad is the best starter. Don’t forget to include a chocolate drink too. That will make them happy and it works most of the time.

Buy yourself some bread and tell them this “I wanted to ask you out for a nice meal together and I have been eating bread since two weeks ago. Just to save up a little so that we can enjoy together.”

Fooyoh.. she will surely melt a little :P

Sometime you deal with big eater and bigger size. Love is so called “blind” and I will not go in details on that part. Don’t fret, this restaurant do serves nice Italian spaghetti too. Order 3 straight away and she will like you more!

Many girls are looking forward men that are capable enough to feed them. I bet this will be the best example to show that you are indeed the right one :P

Beside salad, bread, spaghetti and pasta, you can get delicious Italian chocolate. Not only that, you can get Macaroon here too. It only cost about RM 3.60 per piece. Yea yea yea, the macaroon a bit expensive but it compensated with yummie food. Try and you know what I meant!

Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum

How many of you still remember what happen on 1 July 1997? Don’t tell me young people like you forget this auspicious day? This date marks the transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong from UK to China.

Mass migration or better known as migration tide happened even before 1989 as many were pessimistic towards Hong Kong future. That is the time when receiving countries enjoy the exchange of cultures, expertise and FOOD.

Now, you don’t have to travel all the way to Hong Kong but to SS22/19 instead to eat Hong Kong dim sum. Many of you might know this place, Restoran Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum.

If you go during breakfast, lunch or dinner time, this place is so congested that you might need to queue up. Quite a long queue tho. Normally in any restaurant, the queue is proportionate to the quality of food. The longer it is the better it is.

STOP Drooling! Well, I am not sure about you but my saliva nearly drool out when I look at varieties of pre-made dim sums that are available. Maybe I am too hungry.. hehe.. Since I am so hungry, I have to remind myself not to overly ordered :P

Only fried food? Nah.. these are just few of the many other choices. I spotted on many that I am craving for even before looking into the menu.

If you know me in person, you know that I am bad with names. I cannot even remember pretty girls’ names sometime. Sad isn’t it? So, please don’t expect me to name what I ate that day. I guess I am good at one thing, FEEDING my FAT!

If you are custard bun lover, please don’t hesitate but order this straight away. As much as I like custard bun in Dragon-i @ Pavillion, KL, I think this is also another example of deliciously yummie custard bun.

Another dim sum that I like most is the bacon meat rolls. I love this straight away as what TikkoSS’s said “Love at first bite!”.

There are few other dim sums that I ordered and I can tell you the dim sums here really have a good standard. I cannot recall how much I spent that day but I managed to capture few of the dim sums price as below:

Century Egg Congee RM3.50

Deep Fried Prawn Roll RM3.50

Cabbage Roll RM 3.50

Deep Fried Radish Cake RM3.50

Char Siu Pastry RM3.50

Chee Cheong Fun RM4.80

Scallop and Prawn Dumpling RM4.00

Marmite Pork Rib RM10.00

I think it is quite reasonable considering the dim sums range from RM 3.50 to RM 10. You don’t have to stuff yourself with quantity but I prefer quality food. I share so that you can try it too!

Food Tasting @ Cheng Ho Court

Many many many years ago, human kill for a simple reason, FOOD. Many many years later, human can do a lot of things for food too! Of course, not to the killing extend laa. I am one of them. I blog for FOOD. Eh.. more like I blog because of food. FREE food sometimes.

This time I get free invite for food tasting at Cheng Ho Court Chinese Restaurant. Yea, I have been here before and that is why I made myself available this time because I really really miss the food here.

It might look red from the outside but it is definitely not because of Chinese New Year. The mandarins and angpows and pamelo are just for decorations. More like to rejuvenate the CNY ambience.

I was served with 10 course meals. There is only 9 photos below because the other one it already ended up in my stomach! I am not going to tell you what it is and let you keep guessing.

First dish: Deluxe Hot and Cold Combination

This dish takes slightly longer to prepare. There are varieties of ingredients which include seafood, fish balls, mushrooms, eggs and vegetables and many more. If you never been to ala Chinese style restaurant, you have to control yourself not too eat so much at the beginning of the dinner. That is because the best is yet to come :P

Second dish: Braised Shark Fin Soup with Dried Scallop and Crab Meat

Shark lover? Too bad! Shark Fin is my all time favorite. How can I miss this when there are scallops and crabmeat involves. Just added a little black vinegar and it will be perfect for me.

Third Dish: Deep Fried Crispy Chicken

Ok. This is not KFC but it is a homemade deep friend crispy chicken. The chicken is marinated with herbs before it was deep fried. It might taste a little dull especially near the chicken breast but with salt + lime + assam, I am sure you are going to crave for it once you try it.

Fourth dish: Deep Fried Garoupa with Sweet and Sour Sauce

Normally, I am not a fan of boney fish but after deep dried, all the bones seems like edible and crunchy. If only plainly fried, the fish will be too dry. With sweet and source sauce, many kids love this dish.

Fifth dish: Yin Yang Prawn

Why want to resort in one style of prawns when you can have best from both worlds. Boiled prawns with mayonnaise are my real preference as compared to butter fried prawns. Both are equally good and you only pay for single price :)

Sixth dish: Braised Three Varieties of Mushrooms with Seasonal Vegetables

Common dish as you can easily find this in any Chinese restaurant. Personally, I love all the mushrooms since I have been mushrooming (leisuring) at home most of the time.

Seventh dish: XO Fried Rice

In all normal 10 course meals, the rice dish is cooked with salted fish or in Yang Chow style. This rice dish is uncommonly special when they cooked with XO sauce.

Eighth dish: Chinese Pan Cake with Red Bean Mochi

Mochi is famous Japanese dessert and Chinese Pan Cake is traditional Chinese delicacies with stuffed kaya. The combination of both tastes super yummy.

Nine dish: Golden Fish Dumplings.

Of all the dishes, I find this dessert is very creatively made. Instead of round snow moon cake, it was molded into golden pink fish shapes. In Chinese, fish is believed to bring good luck and fortunes to the righteous person. Not all fish tho. Definitely not salted fish for sure.

Do give it a try and make sure you pre-book in advance. Else there is a high possibility that you missed this chance very soon.

Steamboat Ketam Village @ Desa Park City

Many believe that the secret of slimming down your body is by not eating. WRONG! The best way is to reduce your food consumption and EXERCISE! Yes I mean real exercise, walking for 5 minutes or window shopping is not considered as exercise, k? Make sure you work out till you sweat!

I found a place to make you sweat even without exercising. Best is when there is food involved. While walking around Desa Park City Waterfront, this restaurant caught my attention, The Steamboat Ketam Village.

I am not a fan of steamboat because it is boiling hot. Worse is when I can’t even tell if the food is well cooked. Also, I don’t know why many people like steamboat considering Malaysia is a warm and humid country. Sweating like pig seems like unavoidable.

But there are exceptions. This restaurant is fully air-conditioned. Well, they have an open air section too if you really really plan to get wet! Normally this place will get very congested especially during dinner. So, make sure you get there earlier rather than queuing with empty stomach!

Now, you have one of the toughest decisions to make beside which clothes to wear for the dinner. The SOUP! You can choose either a clear chicken soup or a spicy tom yam soup. To avoid cracking my head on tough decision, I just ordered both at the same time!

You don’t have to wait 30 minutes for the soup to be ready as it is already premade in the kitchen. However, you need to spend some time boiling the soup before you can put in the ingredients. It is quite fast to be honest. This is because all tables are equipped with electric hob.

I get undecisive when I look at the menu. This happens quite severely especially when I am hungry. It must be a sign of low sugar in my bloodstream. All dishes looks so deliciously tempting.

Normally I will just point on what I like and ended up too much until I cannot finish it. This time I am smart, at least that how I feel when I ordered it. I chose for a standard steamboat set. The portions is quite decent for one person. Not too much, not too little.

In that one plate, you get fishballs, carrots, prawns, crabstick, noodles, ramen, vegetables, some fried stuff bla bla bla. You won’t believe that all those is only cost bout 16++. Pretty good deal isn’t it.

As much as I claimed earlier that I am not a fan of steamboat, I am somehow impressed and like this restaurant. Food is good, services are friendly and last but not least, it makes me sweat. I can sense that I am slimming down very soon. Just drop by at this restaurant if you happen to be in this area.
