WangFuJing – The Food

Did you know that ancient people secured food through two methods, hunting and gathering and agricultural? Due to civilization and globalization, lands become very limited for agricultural activities, mostly filled with modern buildings.

Hunting is proven working for centuries. Great method should be cultivated to prevent extinction. That is why, TikkoSS always hunt for food to feed his fat.

If you follow my blog, you must have come across Food Hunting in KimChiLand (part 1/2) and Food Hunting in KimChiLand (part 2/2) before. This is another food hunting but in different land, in “Pirate”land.

Not only Wang Fu Jing Famous is a famous shopping street, this place is a heaven of oriental food. If you are a big eater with bottomless stomach like me, you can easily get it filled here with various local and traditional food.

Do not walk on the main street as you will only find fast food restaurants or high class cafés. Try on back alley. If you are not adventurous enough or have a weak stomach, please bring along your stomachache medication :P

Please stop reading this if you are in diet mode or hungry. The following food hunt evidences will definitely help anorexic to build their desire to eat more! Over here, you get a lot of desserts, drinks, cookies.. more like if you name it, you get it.

If you happen to be here, give it a try on local yogurt. It is sourishly refreshing. If you drink on spot and return the bottle, you save about 1 RMB (~RM0.50) but hey, if you like agriculture, the bottles are just nice as an alternative to vase.

Well, there are plenty of foods here but I can only select few to write. One of the “DO NOT TRY” is the stinky beancurd. From the innocent appearance, I thought it is just a normal fried beancurd with deliciously tempting sauce.

BUT HELL NO.. the smell is awfully disgusting. I tried this stinky stuff before inMalaysiaand I am not a big fan of it although it tastes not too bad when you put in your mouth. Now, is another fear factor moment for me.

DANG..it tastes even worse when you munch it. The feeling is like biting a piece of hard-soft textured S*** in your mouth. YUKS! Make sure you have mouth refresher later..

On the other side of the coins, the BBQ scallops and osyters are a must try. If I remember correctly, I think it is only cost about RMB 5-10 (RM 2.50 – RM 5.00). Cheap and so not the same like the stinky beancurd.

Both are slightly cheesy and spicy but with nice fragrant especially when it is newly barbequed. The seafood here apparently is very fresh although I did not spotted any water source beside the Wang Fu Well .. hehe

If you think that is about it, you are so wrong. The food street does not end here. If you are patient enough to walk around, I bet you will find a lot other interesting delicacies such as china-made meat burger, desserts and pastries. All are equally delicious.

To not shock you, I have removed most of the foods that I ate that day and only show you 1% of food that I tried. :P Some good and some bad .. I mean really bad but hey, it is not the foods but it is the adventure that counts, right?

Breakfast in Prince Hotel KL

It is not a crime if you don’t feel like making your own breakfast. It is just a sign of laziness that flow in your bloodstream. Please don’t blame me for having a luxurious breakfast when I know roti canai in mamak stall is just < RM 1

If you read my post on Prince Hotel & Residence KL, you know that I got a complimentary breakfast here. From my hard scouting work, I managed to locate a breakfast spot on ground floor of this hotel. (Duh.. most of the restaurant located at ground floor)

From far, you can smell the fragrant of the typical Asian and Western breakfast. Entering the restaurant is like entering the heaven of food. You might not realize that especially when every local food is within your reach.

Try when you did not come in contact with Malaysian Food for the few months. The feeling is like ant dying for sugar.

Like many restaurant, this place serves Asian cuisines, Western breakfast, cereals, desserts, drinks etc. If you are still fuzzy about it, there are few dedicated chefs cook for you. Name it and normally you won’t get it, except for omelets, scramble eggs or fried eggs.

As many might know, the kitchen crews will freshly prepare the food in the very early in the morning before the arrival of guests. This is to ensure all the hotel guest will be fed when the clock is ticking at 6am.

I got lucky when I reach just about 30 min before 10 am. All the food is still there. It shows that the chefs are constantly re-filling the food. Yes.. it is a buffet style and that makes me like it even more.

Nasi Lemak is a must. It is served with beef and chicken rendang, sambal, anchovies, eggs and my very own mixture with bacons and pancakes. My hungry stomach got better when I finished up my second round of western breakfast.

Burpp.. Asian + Western + fresh fruits = perfect breakfast. If you are in KL and want to try something extraordinary, make sure you drop by here. It is not about the food but it is the ambience that counts!
