Penang Char Kuey Teow @ Lorong Selamat

Char Kuey Teow is so common nowadays. Many times, you can easily get Penang Char Kuey Teow even when you are NOT in Penang. Well, the tastes of course, will be slightly different from the genuine Penang Char Kuey Teow in PENANG ! Although Penang is just a small island, I can tell you that I get lost many times simply because most of the roads are one way street.

So, instead of continue searching for delicious Penang Char Kuey Teow that prone you to get lost, I decided to share with you the one that I usually go to. Kafe Heng Huat is the name of the shop. This Kafe is situated at Lorong Selamat. I never miss this place whenever I pay a visit to Penang.

This kafe only serve char kuey teow and nothing more than that but you can order outside food such as laksa, ais kacang, mee goreng etc from hawker stalls right in front of the shop. Every plate of char kuey teow is cooked only when you order. With that, a true taste of hot Penang Char Kuey Teow is preserved.

Ohh.. they only serve you when you dine in. I guess this is to maintain the quality of the food but I saw many bringing their own container to pack it. Not surprise but just wonder how it taste?

The char kuey teow has 3 big prawns (signature ingredient .. ) with some bean sprout, chinese sosej and spring onion. I would say this is the best char kuey teow that I ever tasted. I am still craving when I blog on this. The price is RM 6.50 for small, RM 7 for medium and RM 9 for big portion.

Honestly, the portion is not as big as you think. This char kuey teow is best served with Nutmeg (buah pala) drink. With only about RM 10 for char kuey teow and drink, you can get a delicious 3 big prawns char kuey teow just perfect for your lunch or teabreak.

KK Pan Mee @ Taman Usahawan, Kepong

I came across this KK Pan Mee during my tea break. I don’t normally eat during teabreak but this restaurant catched my eyes when it appeared in newspaper before.

The restaurant is called Restoran KK Pan Mee. Apparently, this restaurant is very new and all the interior and utensils are super clean, bright and not crowded too.

The main dish for this restaurant is pan mee but the shop also serves many other chinese food. All the food are freshly cooked. The service is very fast and it is just perfect for a short tea break.

I ordered one bowl of pan mee with a drink and it only cost me about RM 9.80. Perfect. The food is good, the price is reasonable and more importantly, I managed to try food that appears in newspaper again.

Roselle Flower Drinks and Its Nutrients

Do you like Ribena? I mean the blackcurrant drink? That is one of my favourite drink when I am a kid and it is still is.  Ribena considers as expensive drink and I cannot even afford it when I am in elimentary school.

Alternatively, my mom usually cooks Roselle Flower and to my surprise, it tastes almost the same. A little different but tastes as good.  I managed to snap some photos of Roselle flowers. After removal of the seed, the flowers are then cooked with sugar and the drink is ready to be served.

The Roselle Flower contains high concentration of Vitamin C. Approximately 2.5 x more than blackcurrant, 3 x more than grapefruit and 9 x more than citrus fruits. The study shows that Roselle flower can reduce cholesterol, reduce the risk of high blood pressure, prevent cancer and it contains anti-aging agent.

Recently, I just found out that many shops actually sell this drink. It is called Juffi Roselle Juice. I love not only the drink but the crunchy sweet roselle flower too.

Rojak – Malaysian Fruit Salad

Most of us will think about salad when thinking about dieting. Is it a healthy food? Considering salad consists of vegetables and fruits, yes but the dressing, I don’t think so.

Western has their very own salad and so do we, the Malaysian. It is called Rojak – fruit salad with prawn paste n sweet sauce. Main ingredients are fruits and they are cucumber, mango, pineapple, papaya, sengkuang. Some even include yau char keoy and prawn crackers.

There is one mobile hawker stall sells very delicious rojak. The best so far that I have tasted. It is located in Taman Tanming Jaya, 10 min drive from Mines Wonderland. The mobile stall only operates every Monday from 12-3pm only. I can tell you, the stall always crowded with people and the owner is making good money.

Tsingtao Beer

Many say beer is “White Man Tea”. Is it true? I don’t know but to me, beer is a common drink nowadays regardless of your skin color. This time, let me share with you some “chinese” made beer. Not Carlsberg, not Tiger or Heineken but Tsingtao Beer. I am not sure how many of you know about TsingTao beer but the first time when I came across this brand is when I was in Miri. I am not a big fan of beer because beer generally bitter and taste like beer..duh :P

Tsingtao Beer originated from a place called Qing Dao (Tsingtao). Qing Dao is a port sub-provincial city in the Shandong province of China. Tsingtao beer is brewed with high quality ingredients, special yeast, classic brewing craft and unique aging process. What I know is this beer has won Chinese National Gold prizes for 7 times. Enough of history lesson, let’s talk about the beer itself.

I bought this can of beer for RMB 3 which is equivalent to RM 1.50. Cheap isn’t it? I bet you cannot get beer for that amount of money. Like all other beers, Tsingtao beer is best to serve cold. Duh..

What amaze me about this beer is that, it has less bubbles as compare to most of the beer. Regardless of weather the beer is cold or warm, the likelihood of forming the bubble (formy layer) is low but of course, it depends on your pouring skills too :P .

I don’t know how to comment much about beer as I am not a master in drinking but to me, this beer is less bitter and taste smoother as compare to other brand. The alcohol content is rather low as compare to other brand of beer. The alcohol content is only 3.8% alcohol by weight or 4.8% alcohol by volume with zero fat content and 157 calories per 12-ounce serving.

Alcohol Content: 3.8% alcohol by weight, 4.8% alcohol by volume
Calorie Content: 157 calories per 12-ounce serving
Fat Content: 0 gm
Original Gravity:

11.0 degrees Plato

All I can say is, beer is a bitter drink and personally I don’t quite like it but Tsingtao beer can be labelled as one of my favorite among all. If you happen to be a loyal supporter of other brand of beer, don’t change it or else you are not loyal anymore .. hehe.. but give a try on this one too !

Official Launching of www.tikkoss.com @ 10/10/10 10:10 am

A lot of people was asking when I will officially share my blog to the world. I have been thinking about the right time, right date and the right day to officiate all my website. Don’t guess, I am not a true believer of feng shui but getting “easy to remember details” always makes my life easier for the anniversary celebration. :P

tikkoss

Many talks about 10/10/10. I always wonder why 10/10/10 ? why not 11/11/11 instead? After a long search, I finally found the answer:

i) 10/10/10 only happen once .. duh..

ii) 10/10/10 happens on Sunday..my favorite day of the week

iii) 10/10/10 happens to be 3 x perfect score ..

iv) 10/10/10 @ 10:10 means besides 5 x perfect, it is time that I wake up on most of the Sunday .. hehe..

v) last but not the least, I need a day to officiate my web anyway .. :P

tikkoss

For the past few months, I managed to setup a few websites by myself. All these websites are full with my original ideas and genuine contents. Although I sacrifise a lot of my time in developing these, the results are encouraging.

The first website that I own is TikkoSS’s Blog. This web is all about “Sharing my Senses, Experiences and Thoughts !” with my readers. In TikkoSS’s Blog, you will find a lot of information on Jokes, Food, Travels, Recipes, Hotels, Cars, Arts and many more to come. It will also serves the purpose of recording my wonderful experiences and exciting moments in life so that if one day, when I look back, they will be full with colors of unforgettable memories and capture all my hard works.

The next website is TikkoSS’s Photoblog. I just invested in Photography. Most of the time, I enjoy snapping photos but never like to share and most of my photos are never organized. So, I decided to put some efforts in sorting all photos to enable all my readers to view and appreciate them. The world is too big for one’s eyes to see, that is why my main aim is to share the world as I see it through lenses.

TikkoSS’s Talk is the most recent website that I setup. Studying from the trends, I noticed that many are passionate about food and not much on reading my blog. I don’t denied that some really enjoy reading my creative writting. That is why I decided to only share pictures of food with minimal wordings and receipes. Well, this website is not only limited to food, but it is more of a place to express myself freely on broad ranges of topics.

Last but not least, TikkoSS’s Forum. This is the forum that dedicated to everyone to share your opinions, knowledge, views and more importantly, to link everyone to make the world smaller. I noted that many of us have specific knowledge on respective areas and hardly share with others. With TikkoSS’s Forum, this will be the channel for all of you to share your expertise in helping others who are in need.

One thing that keep me moving is and dedicated to my blog is Charity. If you notice on all my websites, I have included a charity page. This is to help those who are needed to make the world a better place. A lot will wonder, how can I ensure the contribution will go to charity and not to my own pocket? Valid question indeed, infact I will ask the same thing if I want to contribute.

Most of the website you go to will put up “donate to them button”, not to the charity. What I am intended to do is to put up all the links so that it will makes your life easier if you decided to contribute directly to the charity body or via me. All contribution via me will be documented and published so that you know where your contribution goes to.

Besides all these, please contact me if you are interested to put advertisement on my website, share interesting ideas/comments, delicious food or even if you need a photographer. How can I compete with those who already in blogging for so long? I never compete and I always work on my own pace. What I can offer is not the traffic only but a sustainable readers who share the same passion as me. You can contact me at talk@tikkoss.com .

If all this websites still do not excite you, don’t worry as there are still more to come. Share with you friends and stay tune !
