Buka Puasa @ Gabo Chit Chat

“Puasa” or fasting is a common culture among Islam in Ramadhan month. It is an act of refraning from all food and drinks before sunrise (sahur) till sunset (buka puasa). Puasa will last for a period of one month before celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri on 1st of Syawal. I always amaze with all Muslims that can manage to control themselves to reflect how fortunate they are and in remembrance of all that are less fortunate.

In this month, most of the companies will organize a “Buka Puasa” Dinner to all staffs including non Muslim staffs. This year, my company decided to organize at Gabo Chit Chat @ Traders Hotel, KL.  Traders Hotel is located about 5 min walk from KLCC. A buggy service is provided to those who resides at Traders Hotel.

I was invited to this dinner and I brought along my IXUS 60 to snap some photos so that I can share with you. I arrived at about 1830 hrs, just the right timing to get a nice seat before the place get crowded. Although the break fast is about 1920 hrs, people continue to fill up the empty tables.

Most of the food are freshly prepare. What I like about this place is I get to see how the chef prepare the food (er.. I can steal some receipe and skills too .. hehe). You can even request for the dishes you like and he is ready to prepare for you. Hot from the pan !

There are variety of food starting from traditional Malay Ulam Sambal Belacan (green vegetables with chili paste), chinese dim sum, grilled and fried dishes, western food, japanese food and fresh seafood such as oyster, prawns, scallops, mussels and many more. The cheese corner is very tempting too.  The queue started to grow longer when it is about time for break fast. So better get ready with your food before that.

If you are dieting, try skip it while you are here. All the foods are tempting and delicious. How can you ever think of dieting? Just try to make the fullest out of it. That is why, I ended up eating a lot of food that night. More like I tried one of each and I still cannot finish all.

Please make sure you spare some of your stomach space for desserts too. I can tell you, the desserts are ranging from sweet, sour, spicy, salty to bitter, from traditional malay, chinese to western and from fruits, cakes, chocolate to pastries. The WOW sensation is there when you see them. I am sure you are going to love them.

For the Ramadhan month, Traders Hotel has special promotion for Buka Puasa Dinner. They only charge about RM 92 nett per person. You might think that it is pricy but considering the variety of quality food and the ambience, I am sure you will change your mind when you are there. Few weeks left before Syawal, so grab your chance to try it there !
