Talking about pet, I used to have a dog called Ben, Tzi Tzu breed. The reason I said I used to because Ben was stolen 3 weeks ago.  Let me share with you on what happen so that we can grieve and laugh together. Laugh? Am I out of my mind? or I am just cold blooded?

My maid left the gate open and Ben decided to take a walk out. Without noticing it, the maid then close the gate. So poor Ben was left outside and nobody noticed him. Not because we are not caring but Ben always like to walk around alone without barking.

The next morning I heard my mom screaming at 5 am when the dog is not in the cage. My maid decided to confess with my mom and said, “Nenek, the dog went missing yesterday, why not we go and find now ?”. Hearing this, my mom get so pissed off and started to say, “Why didn’t you tell me yesterday and only tell me now?” The maid replied, ” Nenek, I forget la.” My mom nearly fainted because of that.

Without further a due, the Ben Search Part 1 begins. My mom started to walk around the neighbourhood starting from 5.15 am till 8 am. No success. My mom asked every friends of hers. Still no success. Some claimed that they saw Ben wandering around with other female dog, jumping over the fence, bite shoes but wait a minute, Ben is a small size dog, how can he jump over the fence? Something is not right somewhere.

After work, I began Ben Search Part 2. This time I am smart, I drive around neighbourhood instead of walking. So I drove about 1 hr and still no success. Ben usually knows how to go home by himself and stay outside the gate waiting for us to open the door but not this time. Maid offered helps and said, “why not you drop me here and I will find the dog at this area. I will walk back home later.” Few hours passed, my maid not home yet? So now, instead of missing dog, my maid is missing too.

Now, Dog + Maid Search Part 3. No success of dog but noticed my maid was sitting at playground talking to some strangers and I walked closer to intervene. I asked, “Why you didn’t go home?”. She answered,”I am lost, I don’t know where to find my way back.” I am speechless.

My sister decided to go for Ben Search Part 4 alone this time to avoid losing my maid again. Again, she drove around the neighbourhood and still no sign of Ben. This is almost a day now. By right, Ben should be starving and knows how to find his way back. No success. My sis gave up and drove home.

So all of us are very sad for the loss of Ben and there is no way we can trace the location of Ben. Feeling upset, mom decided to donate the cage, dogfood, shampoo and other Ben’s belonging to other dog’s lover. Besides that, mom informed all the neighbours to return our dog if they can find him but no news after that.

Few weeks passed, suddenly a middle age auntie visited my mom (my mom’s friend) and asked, “What is your dog name?” My mom curiously replied, “It is called Ben. Why did you ask?” The auntie said,”Ohh, last few weeks I have your dog. Your dog is very good. Eating all the leftover food from us but when my daughter decided to bath the dog, the dog ran away with a chain on his neck. When you find Ben, can you return the chain to me?” My mom asked calmly, “You know I lost my dog and I am searching for Ben almost every morning. Why you didn’t you tell me?” She replied,”That is a good breed, Tzi Tzu, a very expensive dog if you buy it. That is why I decided to keep it but now, if you see the chain, can you give it back to me?” My mom was speechless and sent her back.

Sometime, I just don’t understand about human being. It is simple but yet complicated. Why can a person take your dog, come back to you and claim she took it? Weird huh? It is like telling people, I kill you and it is me who kill you but can you give me back my bullet if you find it? Ben Search fails but I learn a great lesson about how human can be so weird sometime.

Facebook is a famous social network that links your old friends, schoolmates, colleagues, family members and many more . In Facebook, you can play games, update your post, comments and of course I cannot finish typing all the Facebook functions here.

The famous button that I usually use to express that I like the post, comments or status is the Facebook “Like” button. A simple click signifies an agreement of one opinion. This button can be installed as a plugin in most websites or blog. I am pretty sure that most of you do know what am I talking about.

Recently, I noted the MISUSED of Facebook “Like” Button. I am not sure how many of you do aware of this but sometimes agreements are not always the best thing to do. They might lead to signicant social impact or wrong messages being sent to the community.

When I read The Star Online news today, I noted the Facebook “Like” button is in every news. This is a good approach to capture the readers view. The intention of this post is not to condemn  The Star websites but it is more to create an awareness on something that might means very small to some people but it carries a heavy meaning.

The news below are extracted from The Star website. This news is supposed to be a sad news considering 2 teenagers being rape by strangers that they thought are their friends. It also potray how we should not trust the strangers easily and our society isn’t that safe anymore because rapist can be everywhere.

Now let us check the like button at the bottom. 232 people like this news ??? This is the part where I said the Like button expressed some doggy messages. 232 people are either like the news because of i) the 2 teen being rape ? ii) the rapist for raping the 2 teenagers? iii) the girls managed to identify the rapist ?

I am not sure about others but my first glance is, What happen to our society nowadays? Encouraging rapist? or liking the girls to be raped?

Another news post as below. This is another sad story considering that someone ends up in homocide. Look at the bottom. 132 people like this post? That is very scary. Do they really like the girl being murdered? or they are supporting the murderer? I know that most of the news are reported with a good intention to teach/share/make aware of the actual situation. Liking in this news is definately not the right way for us to express our agreement.

“Like” only consists of one word but it carries a very subjective meaning. Most of the people did not go through the news in detail. They will only pick up some of the key words especially at the beginning and the ending. In this case, the beginning is “A massage that ends in woman’s homocide” and the ending is 132 people like this news? Now, can you see the bigger picture?

This is the last news I extracted from the website. I finished reading this news in detail. I found it very unfortunate that a woman having hard time battling with her illness end up dead because of a snatch thief and NOT because of cancer. That is the consequence of the social illness that will bring futher damage to our society.

284 people like this ??? Is that a true “like” or the readers simply click the button? I don’t know but if the problem is just the reader simply clicking the button, I guess we don’t really have a real problem. What if the one that click the button really like the poor woman dying or the snatch thief who kills the woman? Then we have a serious problem. The biggest impact is the message that is sent out to the society. Try to think about it, what happen if this is the root cause for the next crime?

Again, like I mentioned earlier, this post is not to condemn any party for their acts but to create awareness to our society so that we think before we “like” something. It might be very small act but with so many readers, the impact can be very big. I hope that we will not misuse the technology simply because it is simple or easy.
