If you read my post on Shangri-la Pudong, Shanghai, you will probably realize that I have a lot of nostalgic moments in this hotel.

Nothing can embrace my memories except carving the good one on stones and not so good one on sands so that the waves can help to flush them away.

Another way to do it, is to feed my stomach well first and start reflecting later. One way to do it is by ordering decent dinner just for myself in my own quiet room.

The trick is, you have to either order food that you crave for or food that you love. This time I go for potatoes wedges and salad as starter. Now, I can sense that my memory puzzles start to align on its own.

To speed up my thought process, I have to go for wanton noodles soup with mushroom and char siew. As a pork lover, I have to say char siew really helps in merging my brain cells together.

At this stage, I felt like as if I already travelled back through time to meet with my loves one, my family, probably about 20 years back.

To avoid myself from waking up from this hypnotic moment, I have to continue feeding my stomach with Sirloin Steak and strawberry milkshake. Or stomach growling will definitely creates distractions.

I recalled, my dad gave me my first present, my mom and sis too. How mesmerizing. I remembered we used to have a lot of fun time together and thanks to decent food, it helps to blend a good chemistry between my present and past.

The sweet moment was really short and I woke up straight away after I got slapped with the dinner bill. It costs me RMB 495?? That is approximately RM 250???

After this meal, I have to probably eat instant noodles for another week. Worth it or not, why not you tell me.?

If you all know me well, my birthday just passed like few days ago. Thanks to all for your wishes. I did not celebrate at all. Why? Well, I get older every day, so, what so special about getting older?

Same day like 20 years ago, I remember my parents used to bring me to a place called Shangri-la to celebrate my birthday. I came from poor family, so my dad will only ordered banana split with extra waffles. That was good enough to make my birthday a special one.

20 years later, I spotted this hotel by coincident in Shanghai. My initial plan was to stay in Ritz Calton but I took the liberty to refresh my sub conscious memory by staying in Shangri-la Pudong.

Whenever I see Shangri-la, I have an unexplained urges to at least try it out. I don’t know how many stars is this hotel but it appears decent to me.

With nice chandeliers on the walkway to greet my arrival, I quickly looked for my bedroom. As soon as my key card unlocked the room door, I was so amaze with the room.

With semi-modern Chinese decorated interior, I know this will be the right hotel for my stay in Shanghai. If you are there with your partner, I tell you, this room can be romantic..

Toilet cum bathroom with long bath tub and glass door shower room turned out to be my favorite spot in the room.

Why? Please don’t ask me why.. This is kind of personal.. er.. er..  to do big and small business, to refresh myself and oh yea.. you can do a lot of things here.

If you are bored facing your partner or tired of Chinese tv program, you can drop by at the indoor pool. This is probably one of the decent swimming pool with no green algae :)

OR maybe you want to be slightly healthy by visiting the hotel gym. I am sure you will not disappoint as the equipments are in tip top conditions.

Yea.. I feel slightly healthier after staying here and honestly, I have a great time here..

Y2K used to be in every headline across the world before when the clock was ticking from 1999 to 2000. If you were born in the same era like me, you will realize that many were unprepared for this as this event only happens once in every millennium.

Millennium is a period of time equal to one thousand years. It does not happens everyday and if you miss it this time, you have to wait for your great great great grandsons to experience it again.

I considered myself lucky as I got to experience it twice at my age now (please note that I am still 18 this year). The first time was during Y2K of course. I remember I was doing “big business” in toilet at that time:p Do you believe it?

What about the second time? I spent almost a week in Grand Millennium Hotel Beijing. So, that is the second time? Oh yea! It is an international standard hotel that worth to pay for a visit.

Staying on 18 (surely rich in Chinese) floor makes me feel slightly richer for the whole duration. Despite a long walk to my room, it traded nicely with a nice contemporary room. The room layout is rather simple but elegant.

On top of that, the latest interior design makes me feel like wanting to stay there longer. By paying reasonable price, you get a comfy king size bed like in any hotel and classy work desk that really perfect for both business and leisure.

Did I mention leisure? Oh yea.. I am here mainly to play bubble bath in the bath tub. Categorically, the washroom is almost half the size of the room. So you can run around naked in your own private corner.

Remember to keep your window blind close before you do all those act. This is to avoid someone posts your uncivilized behavior in youTube

If you are a gadget freak, I bet you will stick to the tv most of the time. The room comes with high-tech built in tv that you can surf net, email, watch inhouse entertainment, play games etc.

Not only that, even the room phone is kind cool. The room also equipped with safety measures such as safe box and breathing mask.. just in case..

Beside complimentary foot wares, all your bubble bath liquid is provided with no extra charge. Not all things are free here. If you accidently drink from the Evian bottle, they will charge CNY 78 (~RM 39) per bottle.

One spot that you might like in this hotel is their facilities. I cannot manage to get more photos from the indoor pool, spa and gym as it is a restricted area for photography but it is definitely worth to utilize it.

Before you know it, your stay is expired. You just have to move on but I will come back again if I happen to be in Beijing in the near future.

When you read about Dalian Seafood Restaurant, you know I was there before. Probably you will ask me this question, if happen that one day I go to Dalian, China, where should I stay?

I cannot possibly list all the options for you as there are many decent hotels around there but I can share with you where I stayed before this. I stayed under the highway bridge like those unfortunate one. That is obviously a lame line.

5 stars hotel is too expensive for me so I resorted in 3-4 stars hotel, Bohai Pearl Hotel Dalian. Bear in mind that 3-4 stars hotel over here is not exactly 3-4 stars ya! So, don’t have too high expectation on it.

This hotel is situated beside Dalian Train Station. How convenient if you are planning to go there by train, right? Only about 5 min walk, walla, the cozy hotel is just right there.

The hotel is a bit creepy as you walk in the lobby as they did not turn on the light during the day time. “Saving the energy” I presume.

The room rate was reasonable to me and I managed to get special discount when I book over the internet too! As you can see, the lists of the room prices are vary depending on which day you go! So, pick the right date.

From a quick glance, I noticed a small glitch on the notice board. The temperature shows 26 deg C. Honestly, this place is colder than you thought, I mean Dalian in general. So bring along your wind breaker.

The walkway to room is not impressive but the room is decent. I wouldn’t use the word classy but it is rather neat and tidy AND they still use the “Big Potato” TV. It makes me feel like I am travelling back to 80’s.

For bookworms, this room is not recommended as the lightings are meant for romantic ambience. Good if you can bring along your partners with you. Bet they are going to love it.

No COFFEE, only tea. This is just a reminder for coffee lover, please bring your own sachets of coffee just incase you are craving for it.

Like any other hotel, phone is provided in this room but all in Chinese. No option for language selection :p. So, don’t be surprise if none of them speak English when you call for room service.

The room comes with 2 bottles of complimentary drinking water and of course, toiletries as well. Although I am expecting slighting bigger bathroom but the size is just nice to fit ONLY one person at the same time.. hehe.

The bathtub is not the same like any other hotel. It is rather shallow to fill a fat.. I mean fit people like me. In general, this hotel is so so only but the price is reasonably cheap as compared to others. Remember, book online to get cheaper deal!
