Fine Dining
If you read my post on Shangri-la Pudong, Shanghai, you will probably realize that I have a lot of nostalgic moments in this hotel.
Nothing can embrace my memories except carving the good one on stones and not so good one on sands so that the waves can help to flush them away.

Another way to do it, is to feed my stomach well first and start reflecting later. One way to do it is by ordering decent dinner just for myself in my own quiet room.
The trick is, you have to either order food that you crave for or food that you love. This time I go for potatoes wedges and salad as starter. Now, I can sense that my memory puzzles start to align on its own.

To speed up my thought process, I have to go for wanton noodles soup with mushroom and char siew. As a pork lover, I have to say char siew really helps in merging my brain cells together.
At this stage, I felt like as if I already travelled back through time to meet with my loves one, my family, probably about 20 years back.

To avoid myself from waking up from this hypnotic moment, I have to continue feeding my stomach with Sirloin Steak and strawberry milkshake. Or stomach growling will definitely creates distractions.
I recalled, my dad gave me my first present, my mom and sis too. How mesmerizing. I remembered we used to have a lot of fun time together and thanks to decent food, it helps to blend a good chemistry between my present and past.

The sweet moment was really short and I woke up straight away after I got slapped with the dinner bill. It costs me RMB 495?? That is approximately RM 250???
After this meal, I have to probably eat instant noodles for another week. Worth it or not, why not you tell me.?

Money is not everything. Money cannot buy love, health and happiness. That is what many advice me. To me, money might not be everything but money is definitely something.
If you don’t have money, how can you buy roses for your love one on valentine? Without money, who is going to pay for hospital bills and how are you going to buy iPhone to cheer up yourself?

Let me show you what I do with my money. Nowadays, with money, you can do just about anything. And that includes becoming an Emperor for few minutes.
I am not talking about wearing the emperor costume for photo shoot. All I am saying is to experience a lavish spread of imperial Chinese cuisines in Fangshan Restaurant, Beijing.
As soon as you enter the main entrance, you get to experience a truly unique ambiance and real ancient décor signifying numerous ruling Chinese dynasties in the past.

The dining hall is adorned with beautiful royal painting on the ceiling and even traditional Chinese art. Of course you are greeted with waitresses wearing original imperial dresses.
Gold and yellow used to be the Emperor’s color. If you are spotted using those colors, you will probably behead instantly but that was long long ago. The historic setting with yellow and gold in dining hall surely add the imperial effect into it.

As far as food is concerned, you get to experience truly sumptuous dishes as long as you are willing to pay the bill. As for me, I go for the set of RMB 298/per person (~RM 150). If you are richer, there are also set of RMB 2880/person (~RM 1440).
What I get as a start are Appetizing Cold Dish, Mashed Peas Pudding and Rolls of Kidney Bean Flour, Stir-fried Scallops and Brocolli and Ginseng Red Date and Deer Tendon Soup.

Despite the place is very congested, I personally give 9/10 to the waitresses as the services are pretty efficient. As soon as I almost finish my dishes, they instantly served me with new one.
This time I get Braised Sea Cucumber with Quail Eggs, Braised Camel’s Paw with Scallion, Sautéed Prawns with Spicy Garlic Sauce, Deep-fried Duck Rolls and Pork Rolls. Yes, you got it right! CAMEL PAW!

I must say I get to savor the authentic flavors of former imperial’s meals. Some of it might look exotic to me but hey, no harm to give it a try right? Besides, this is the finest dining you will ever get.
On top of what they served earlier, here are the remaining from the menu, Sweet and Sour Mandarin Fish, Sautéed Vegetables with Mushrooms, Sesame Cakes with Minced Meat, Assorted Palace Dim Sum and Mixed Fruits.

If you have some spare time, try to visit the “Imperial’s Toilet”. I must say, now I know where the emperors did his big and small business.
The bills cost me about RMB 952. It might appear to be slightly on the expensive side but it is definitely an experience that is worth trying. Money is not everything? Think again!

Hello, can I call for room service? Ok.. What service do you want, sir? We provide all kind of services to our customers including some special one.
I am curious about the special one but let’s not get there. This is a typical type of conversation you will have when you call front desk in hotel. Nothing special about it.

Try again if either of you do not speak English. The conversation will become as challenging as what Chinese said, like chicken and duck speak.
Believe it or not, a simple mushroom soup will turn out to be the most difficult soup to order. If the soup turns out to be tasteless, the effort just goes to drain. Luckily, it did not happen to me this time.

By right, most menus should be numbered. It simplifies the communication between the guest and the hotel when in urgent need. When come to this, pictorial menu is completely useless.
Imagine how I ordered Sirloin Steak with Tiger Prawns and Fries, medium rare? The waitress for sure is patient and polite but probably in her mind, she will say this “What the F*** are you talking about?”

In normal circumstances, I will order a soup, main course, desserts and a drink. Now, the conversation is not only testing her patience but mine too.
The Banana Fritter and ice cream is one of the tough one. I know how to describe banana and ice cream but definitely not fritter in foreign language. I nearly fainted when I ordered strawberry milkshake and turned out to be orange juice.
All the hard works did paid off when the dinner was finally sent to my room but 30 minutes late. This is really a milestone for me and in fact one of my biggest fear in foreign places. Imagine if they sent “something special” and not food!

Please come back before 12 am or you will turn into pumpkin. That is like an epic curfew line you normally hear from fairytales. The truth is, your dad will call you every 5 min after 11pm until you get home? Did I get that?
My mom said, “Son, how come you always stay at home. Go out and meet some friends. If don’t have money, let me know..” So, without procrastinating, I accepted a date with not one girl but a bunch of girls. AND guy too of course.

Where about? We travel all the way to pyramid for dinner with my private jets. Ok. Maybe I am a bit over exaggerating. We travel to Sunway Pyramid by CAR for dinner in FRAMES.
Nice place? Oh yea. There are indeed a lot of nicely decorated frames there. Lucky enough all the tables are well set awaiting for our arrival. Sounds grand right? Of course, I am out with bloggers and we have ethics and standard. Lol.

This is my 101 times hanging out with bloggers this year. So, mom no longer asks me to go out anymore. However she started to ask me if I will be back for dinner almost everyday? (that is another new version of curfew.. but I pretend I don’t know).
I can tell you there are almost 20 ++ interesting bloggers over there. They might not be as famous as Kenny Sia or Xia Xue but all of them are great people. At least in my eyes, else, why I want to hang out with them right? AND for some reason I feel younger despite I AM YOUNG now.

Hmm..I know you are going to say .. the food looks so delicious. Yes.. I don’t deny my cam cam skills are acceptable. So, is the food quality good? Personally, I did not try all of it so I do not want to give bias decision here.
Why we chose the place? We all purchased RM29.90 worth voucher just for dining in Frames. Is it a good deal? Absolutely! With RM 29.90, you get 2 Ice lemon tea, 2 person meals AND free RM 50 voucher per purchase of the voucher (for next visit).

You have the options of choosing spaghetti or burger set for your main course. Of course they are smart enough not to let you choose 2 spaghettis at the same time. So if you bring your gf with you. Be gentleman and let her choose first.
Or if you are smart enough, be like me. I purchased a voucher and I didn’t bring any dates. So you get to eat BOTH! Okok. I know it sounds a bit sad, I get it!
But hey.. who cares it is sad or not, as long as my tummy is super happy. Imagine ur tummy get the best of both worlds. I’m not talking about fat over here but the satisfaction..
Well, I am not as selfish as you think. I do share out my beloved fish burgers to other bloggers too ok?
I am not fancy on ice lemon tea whether it tastes better if you buy it yourself or it is free but I am totally into strawberry milkshake. My favorite all time drink that never disappoint me.

If you noticed, I did not comment much about food here. Why? Because my main focus here is spending time with all those chicks and handsome dude out there.. Damn the guy in circle looks super awesome and handsomely attractive. Wonder who is him?
Join us next time and we, bloggers love to meet up with new people. Ops corrections! Some people

Chakri Palace is an official residence of the Kings of Thailand from 18th century onwards except the present King, King Bhumibol Adulyadej who resides at the Chitralada Palace.
What’s so great about it? Malaysia also has its very own Chakri Palace. Not the King’s Residence but Royal Thai Cuisine instead. Don’t expect to see any royal family but be prepared for a wonderful food here.

When you step in this restaurant, you will feel like you are crossing the border to our neighbor country, Thailand. If you haven’t seen the traditional Thai costume before, this is the right place.
Lost in translation? This is not a problem at all. Fluent Malay and English speaking waitress will provide you with good service.

What I usually order here? Considering that I have big appetite and limitless stomach, I ordered Pineapple Fried Rice, Seafood Tom Yum soup, Butter Egg Prawn and Gung Mae Num Phad (cashew nut prawn).
All prawn dishes? That is just a coincidence. Tom Yum is a dish that need not further explain. The clear and spicy soup is a good starter. If you are not a big eater, the big prawn can already fill half of your stomach.
Pineapple Fried Rice is really served with BIG pineapple. I am not sure if they include spices but the rice smell and taste good.
The buttery flavored prawn is very special in the way they prepared. Although the dish is slightly soaked in oil, I didn’t know that the combination of egg + butter can taste so yummie. Fattening? Er.. no one ask you to drink the oil right??
Last dish, Gung Mae Num Phad is so so only. Maybe because I already had enough of prawns but I remembered that the gravy + rice taste good too but I only try a spoon.

Yea yea yea.. now is the dessert time. Must try dessert? Definitely! Ai Tim Tab Tim Krob (Coconut Water Chesnut) and mango sticky rice can never go wrong. Actually sticky rice is just sticky rice but if sticky rice with coconut milk and mango, WOW, I love it.

Now comes the sad moment, the wallet bleeding time. I spent about RM 124 for this meal. Cheap? Expensive? I will let you decide if this place is worth spending for a nice dinner.

Do you believe if I travel all the way to western part of Java, Indonesia merely for an exquisite dinner? NO? Of course NOT. Well, if I am a billionaire, why not? BUT sadly I am not.
You don’t need to fly to Indonesia but spend a few bucks on taxi to KLCC instead for fine dining in House of Sudanese Food. The place I called the heaven of Indonesian food.

This is not the first time that I visited this restaurant. The cozy modern Indonesian décor and table arrangement make this place outshines others for a wonderful lunch or dinner.

What attracts me to revisit this restaurant is Emping (Buah Belinjau in Malay term), fried local fruit cracker. The taste is slightly milky and bitter but the dip lime sambal (chili) sauce revitalizes the taste of this appetizer.

This restaurant serves famous Sudanese “Dancing” fish. So, with no hesitation, this dish is a must. This dish tastes as good as the food presentation. Although the fish is deep fried, the flesh is still juicy.
The waitress recommended Sudanese Chicken Rendang. From the look, it is nothing special but the thick gravy is full with the richness taste of spices. Yummie!
Many called me carnivore. So, I decided to order Fried Kailan to balance up my diet. Honestly, I don’t know how to appreciate this dish as it tasted green only
Cumi-cumi bakar (Charcoal grilled squid with sweet sauce) is another dish that attracts me. Why? The dish name sounds so cute. At first, I wonder what is so special about this dish? But after the first bite, I am like WOW.. I just want more…

Ice kacang is my favorite but Sudanese Ice Kacang? I never try before. So, I decided to go for it. It serves with cendol, peanuts, longan, cincau, corn, rose syrup, milk etc. The combination of them make this dessert marvelous.

It is always satisfying to start a meal with slightly bitter, Emping to excite your taste bud before trying out others and end with sweet dessert, Sudanese Ice Kacang . I am very satisfied with this dinner and only spend about RM 105 for two. Great deal isn’t it?

Sakura or cherry blossom is the flower of cherry trees which are indigenous to East Asia countries including Japan, Korea and China.
Yea, I know you are familiar with Sakura especially in Japan but we also have Sakura in Malaysia. Sakura flower in Malaysia?
Nah.. I meant Sakura Café and Cuisine. A halal café serving local Malaysian food founded in 1977. Let me be direct to you, parking will be a big challenge at this place – in Jalan Imbi.

Smokers? No worrries. The café is split into smoking and non-smoking zone but of course non smokers get to enjoy the cozy and romantic air-conditioned ambience.

What the specialties here? Honestly, I don’t know.
After spying at what many have eaten, I ordered Braised Shark Fin Soup as appetizer, King Prawn Noodle, Salted Egg Crab(s) and Nasi Bojari as main course and a Coconut drink.

3 main course? Shhhh.. that is the secret of maintaining my big and comfy tummy. (It is believed that many love pillow rather than hard bricks – 6pack)
Personally, my spying works well. All dishes I ordered taste really delicious. Wait a minutes, I tried better Nasi Bojari elsewhere. The chicken slightly over-fried but the prawn and the beef tastes spicily sweet
.
The salted egg crab and king prawn noodles are nicely done. The salted egg crab taste better with a few dips of chili sauce and the big prawn is really BIG. More importantly, the king prawn noodles is the taste that I’m always craving for.
The shark fin soup, this one taste better than most Chinese restaurant or I should say different style of preparing. A little vinegar makes the taste even better. I will come back again for the sharkfin soup (poor shark
)

Although pillow is good, there is a price to pay. This time, I spent about RM 119.35 to maintain my tummy from shouting for food. So, be prepared if you dream of a tummy like mine.
