Hey Penangiates, I have good news for you. What? Nice food in Penang? Of course not. That is nothing new, right? What about nice Penang food in KL?
Oh yea.. While hunting for my tripod, I located this restaurant. Restoran Teo Chew Meng, a simple Chinese restaurant equip with air condition in SS2.
What attracts me? The newspaper cut and pictures of movie celebrities caught my attention. This simple restaurant turns out to be one of the famous restaurants in this area.
The national newspaper, The Star, News Strait Time and Sin Chew Jit Poh have been here before too. Wah..so famous, it must be very expensive.
Er.. not really. The food price is pretty reasonable ranging from RM 15-20 per pax and drinks are from RM 0.50 to RM 8 (beer). So, no need to worry that your wallet will be bleeding.
My stomach is growling when I look through the food photos again. What to do, it seems like I have a natural affection on food. Hehe..
There are plenty of foods for me to try out if it is closely matches the Penang food quality. I ordered boiled octopus, shark fin mee sua and oyster noodles. It has been a while since I tried the octopus. I mean the boiled octopus (different from sushi). The octopus is served with homemade sauce.
If you like shark fin soup in Sakura – Since 1977, you should try this shark fin mee sua. I never taste such a delicious mee sua before (specialties here). The oyster noodles really have a lot of oyster. No fishy oyster smells and the taste nicely blend with starchy soup. This is the best I tried outside Penang.
Not only that, the mixed seafood assam noodles tastes awesome. Slightly spicy and sourish but the fresh seafood makes the taste even better.
Lastly, I ordered “Or Nee” (Yam Paste with gingko) as dessert. No complaint, the taste is as expectedly good.
I know you will ask, how I can finish all these? Don’t get traumatize by my previous post that I eat a lot. This time, I bring along 2 friends of mine to share the fat.
